The Destination

Wenhaston and its surrounds really are proper countryside - a collection of villages where driving from one to the other is the easiest way to get around. There are, however, plenty of local taxi companies, and we’ll be organising coaches to and from key villages to the wedding itself.

From Amsterdam

Norwich is the closest airport, and operates regular, 40 minute flights from Schiphol. From there, it’s an easy hour drive to Suffolk - and you probably want a car in Suffolk, anyway! If you prefer to take a train, Darsham is the nearest station to Wenhaston village.

From London

Train: The closest train station to Wenhaston (the wedding village) is Darsham. Darsham is equally close for nearby Southwold and Walberswick, where many of you might be staying. Trains leave regularly from Liverpool street, and require a change at Ipswich. You’d then be relying pretty much on taxis & walking once you’re in the villages, as there’s no car hire company there.

Car: Wenhaston and the surrounding villages are about a 2 hour drive from central London.

From the States

Norwich is the nearest airport, but flying into London seems to be the easiest (direct) option from the states. From there, both train and car hire are easy options. Steph’s mom is happy to help with advice. Email c.ann.smith@me.com .

Car hire

This just depends where you arrive. All the major rental car companies have locations at London and Norwich airports. If you take a train to Darsham, you’ll likely then be relying on taxis & walking, as Lowestoft, about a 40 minute drive away, is the nearest town with a rental car.
